Crazy Little Thing Called Mauve

Do you remember those two-tone colour pencils that were all the rage with school children? I was obsessed with those. My favourite colour combination was the purple-and-pink one, trés girlish I know, but it's apparently a prelude of things to come. My first lipstick was aptly named Purple Poison. The first case of eye shadow I ever owned - and subsequently wore - was a violet/silver combination. Amethyst is my absolute favourite gem.

And now, looking at how gorgeous purple would look against an icy winter palette, I'm going to beg you to at least consider this colour scheme. It's eye-catching but not overly dramatic, it's elegant but not cold, it's the colour of royalty, and it's just so darn pretty. Please?

My insipiration board

I love the idea of an inspiration board - it's basically a collage of images / ideas, and I think we'll be seeing many more inspiration boards to come! The more I dream about it, the more I think STPI is just perfect for what we have in mind - it's chic, it's different, it speaks volumes about your passion, it's not bank-breaking. And it's got lots of natural light, and just enough space for us to fill it up with quirky little DIY projects. I cannot imagine holding our party anywhere else...

And while I've never thought of myself as wanting a white wedding, I do think an ivory and silver palette - laced with pops of violet and dusky rose - would be absolutely gorgeous. I'm dying to start planning...

I don't know if I'm being overly ambitious, but I'm struck by the sudden desire to take up floral arrangement and a basic graphic design course, so the option of doing our own invitations, thank you cards, gift tags, centrepieces and hand bouquets is opened to us... after all we've got some time to plan, and I'm completely in love with the idea of being so intimately involved in my own wedding!
